Story
With The House at 713: Possession, Writer/Director James Jones set out to create a supernatural horror film in which the greatest threat is not just what haunts the house, but also the grief, guilt, and regret that can awaken within us. At its center, the film follows Tim, a husband and father whose devotion to work blinds him to the family he loves until he is forced to confront a devastating truth he has refused to accept.

"Visually, the idea is to contrast those warm family memories with creepy shadows of the past, and recurring sounds and shots that gradually turns the home into a psychological prison for Tim." -James

"And as we watch Tim’s journey through the house and the "The Void” we also witness his journey into his own sorrow and madness, where salvation can only come from the courage to let go. The goal is to leave audiences frightened by the entities throughout the film but also moved by a vivid depiction of love and loss. They should feel haunted by the question of whether holding on can be more destructive than saying goodbye."
Phase 1: Locations & Principal Photograph
Phase 1 principal photography took place over ten unforgettable days in Atlanta, Georgia, in August 2026. The team was incredibly fortunate to work with generous hosts who remained helpful, responsive, and genuinely supportive throughout the production. The primary location was a house previously featured in James' award winning short film Bound. With its grand proportions, antique character, and abundant natural light, it is the kind of beautiful home anyone would be fortunate, or perhaps willing to die, to own.

The home’s beauty also reinforces Tim’s desire to preserve it for his son, Daniel, and pass it down through future generations. Of course, transforming such an inviting, light-filled property into a place of supernatural terror presented a major creative challenge. Shooting day-for-night in a house filled with windows required careful planning, persistence, and tremendous teamwork. The cast and crew rose to the occasion, ultimately creating an atmosphere that is both visually stunning and undeniably horrifying.

The second location... a horror filmmaker’s dream come true. This abandon Catholic school with it's enormous long hallways and corridors, large classrooms, and tons of windows. It's a cinematic playground ...but also presented some serious challenges. Filming here required extensive coordination, careful planning, and a substantial amount of equipment, especially as we moved between multiple classrooms throughout the shoot.
With so many windows, many of them exceptionally high, controlling the natural light was no small undertaking. But again, the team rose to the challenge and transformed this remarkable location into the haunting world the story required; an achievement of which James is extremely proud.
Phase 2: Finishing The Movie
The next phase of principal photography will bring us back to Atlanta for an additional ten days of filming this December 2026.
Phase 2: Clear Outcomes
Complete principal photography, move House at 713: Possession into post-production, and prepare the finished film for submission to festivals.
"Our hope is to target a screening at one or more of the following: Toronto International FF, American Black FF, Chicago International FF, Tribeca FF, Atlanta FF, Cinequest FF, and Sundance to name a few. While attending the film festival, we plan to connect with distributors and land a distribution deal for theatrical release or with a streaming platform like Hulu, Netflix, Peacock, or Amazon Prime. Everyone should experience a visit to House at 713!" -James
